I’ve been trying to find the right way to wear a fabulous glass hand bead by Kimberly Rogers of numinosity. I put it on some vintage pink chain and lived with it a little while to see how I felt, but at the same time I ordered chain I thought would be better. I got the Supply Your Soul Cimarron Rose patina chain, and it’s perfect.

Two side-by-side pictures of a pink glass hand pendant with rustic metal cap on grungy patina ball chain in grey, cinnamon, and rose gold.

The left picture shows the hand a bit better (shiny is hard to photograph) and the right picture shows the chain colors better. The combination of grey, cinnamon, and rose gold applied in this grungy way (my favorite) is just what the hand needed.

I also made a couple pair of earrings for the next Artists for Animals Auction.

Earrings with metallic green-blue glass headpin drop, silver metal fish connectors, various metal and rainbow/blue beads on top.

I got wonderful metal fish charms from End-of-Day-Beads, a supply sales shop from the creator of Yucca Bloom jewelry. I used a couple of Bronwen Heilman glass headpins as drops, more old metal, galaxy glass beads from Allegory Gallery, and tiny sodalite beads on top. I really like these.

Earrings with textured silver cat head charms, paper beads with green, yellow, red and cream colors, silver and patina metal beads and red, yellow and green polymer discs.

Next I made some earrings with cat charms from Inviciti, paper beads from Jimena’s Treasures, vintage metal, Cookies n Cream painta beads from Supply Your Soul and colorful polymer discs from Allegory Gallery.

Now I have to go do other stuff, but I had fun being in the studio today.

Neutrals

Kimberly Rogers, Numinosity, Vintaj

It’s not always easy for me to work in neutrals or more monochromatic color combinations. I am a pop of color kind of person. But sometimes a design just lends itself to certain beads and certain colors.

This design started with some materials I had laid out for a partial design. None of them ended up in the finished product. But in the process of working with them, I got out some large vintage metal discs. I thought one would work with the other materials. I cleaned one and then added a bit of Vintaj hematite patina to bring out the texture. It did not work, but I thought I could make it work in a similar design with other components.

Three large round copper textured discs and one wavy edge brass disc, all with vintage patina.
the discs I didn’t use

I wanted to pair an art component with the disc. In looking, I found some polymer shards by Kimberly Rogers of Numinosity that I thought were perfect.

Necklace with brass chain, agate and other stone beads, large copper disc pendant with leafy texture and metallic polymer shards.

I used a large round bead that I think is tiger iron, stone ovals, and simple cut blood agate. I love how the pendant turned out especially. It makes a bit of music when worn.

Allegory Gallery, Andrew Thornton, Art beads, Dakota Stones, Inviciti, Kimberly Rogers, Madison Cat Project, Numinosity, vintage beads

I’m starting to take stock of what I have for the upcoming Artists for Animals Auction. I had made a bunch of things for the spring, but that one ended up being canceled due to the pandemic. I’ve made a few more things and will combine them all to have a decent showing. Let’s take a look.

Black background with white hoops and black and white striped beads made into earrings.

These happy mod earrings with vintage hoops are so fun. I hope someone likes them as much as I do!

Tan textured background with necklace featuring pendant of black open square with a multi-colored cat charm inside and multi-colored tourmaline round beads with smaller black beads in between.

This turned out so great, I kind of wanted to keep it. But I hope it can raise some good funds for the kitties! All of my sales will go to Madison Cat Project, a great organization that rehabs cats and finds them home as well as provides affordable spay/neuter services. The kitty charm is from Inviciti.

"Y" shaped necklace made of small rose colored rosary chain beads and a round bronze pendant with one heart inside another.

I could not get a good photo of this necklace; I’ll have to keep trying. But it is so pretty, especially on. I’ve noticed a lot of people on TV wear “y” style necklaces, and I always like them. So I made this one with a lovely bronze heart by Andrew Thornton. So sweet.

Hand holding copper round earring wires with burgundy polymer clay rounds with heart in heart design on them and metallic accent patina.

Speaking of Andrew Thornton hearts, here are some pretty polymer clay ones with metallic highlights. I love this charm and have used it several times in different pieces. I’ll have to decide if these need something else, but a favorite earring style of mine is hoops with art beads. Simple and beautiful.

Hand holding gold earring hoops with 3 different blue and green faceted gemstone beads on each.

Here is another simple pair of earring, but the kind of thing one could wear all the time. These gorgeous hoops are by Miss Fickle Media and the gemstones are from Dakota Stones.

Hand holding bronze earring wires with irregular multi-colored and textured enameled metal long charms.

One more pair of hoops by Miss Fickle Media with enamel drops (numisticks) by Kimberly Rogers of numinosity.

Necklace laying on book. Necklace has off white carved cat bead, with yellow coin bead above it and a variety of cream and brown glass beads in different shapes accented by a few blue tone beads.

Here is a lovely cat necklace with a bunch of mostly Czech glass beads, just the sort of thing I’d make for myself. The bone pendant is from Allegory Gallery.

Earrings with one pink bead and waffle textured bright blue metal triangular drops.

These funky earrings are cool with the vintage colored and textured metal. I feel an ’80s moment coming on!

Necklace with wooden pendant showing a paw print cut out and diamond shaped and ovals gemstone beads in brown, white, peach and grey colors.

Last but not least, here is a sweet wooden paw pendant from Allegory Gallery with some gemstones – I think jasper and moonstone.

That isn’t the last of what I have for the auction, but the last of what I have easily found to post here! I’ll work on getting it all together and ready for the auction. Tune in on the Artists for Animals Facebook page starting November 2nd. There are a lot of artists participating and a variety of handmade things (not just jewelry). It’ll give you something pretty to focus on that week!

Parure

Allegory Gallery, Artists for Animals Auction, Candie Cooper, Green Girl Studio, Kimberly Rogers, Madison Cat Project, Miss Fickle Media, Numinosity

My post title is misleading, as a parure is a matching set of jewelry. I rarely make matching sets, but I love this fancy word, so I wanted to use it. I do have a (non-matching) bracelet, earrings and a necklace to show you, so I feel like that’s possibly as close as I’ll get!

First is the bracelet, which I made for myself based on an idea in a Candie Cooper video. I missed the bracelet kits in Candie’s shop, so I ordered the Green Girl Studios pansy link and some sparkly chain and put one together myself. Sometimes it’s fun to see how long it takes me from idea to finished item since, like many of you, I’m going from idea to unfinished project to challenge to….This one took seven months!

I might hang a couple of sparkly dangles from the clasp area, but I haven’t decided yet, so I’ll live with it for a while.

The next two things I’ve made for the Artists for Animals Auction coming up April 27 – May 3, 2020. As usual, the money from my sales will go to support Madison Cat Project. I want to get to making things so I can raise some good funds for them.

First are some earrings. I always feel like the earrings I make are simple, but they have great materials and are exactly the earrings I would wear if I could still wear earrings. I love a hand made hoop with an art bead dangle. I thought about making my own hoop, but I need more practice, so I bought these hammered brass hoops from Miss Fickle Media.

I added Numi-sticks, torch fired enamel copper by Kimberly Rogers of Numinosity. I love these! They are really light weight and not that big but definitely pack a fashion punch if I do say so.

I also made a necklace for the auction. This is my classic – Czech glass knotted on waxed linen. I like to use animal pendants (especially cats) for the auction because I think they will go over well.

I got this hand-carved bone cat pendant at Allegory Gallery. I decided to tone down my usual bright mixed colors style for this one, and it turned out so sweet!

So there it is, my kind-of parure. Have a wonderful week!
